Cake Care Instructions

FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS TO ENSURE YOUR CAKE IS SERVED BEAUTIFULLY AND TASTES DELICIOUS!

Although, the common practice of preserving a cake for a long time includes refrigerating it immediately to help retain its freshness and sweet taste for a long time. There is still a lot which needs to be done in this direction to maintain the authentic taste of your cake for a significant period of time. Here are some of the tips which one must know to care for a cake to enjoy the mouthful of heaven in a better way.

Care tips (when it is delivered at your place):

  • Always remember that cakes are best enjoyed at normal room temperature but having said that do remember to keep the Fresh Fruit cake, Cream Cheesecake, or Egg Based Fillings like pastry cream and lemon curd in refrigerator if not consumed immediately.
  • If your Cake is delivered directly on the event venue avoid keeping it in direct sunlight and keep it placed in an air-conditioned room.
  • If your cake contains some figurines or sculptures these may include wire supports, wooden skewers or toothpicks. Please inform people especially before serving to small children.
  • Hand Painted & airbrushed cakes should not be refrigerated because as soon as you take them out of refrigeration, condensation causes the food colorings to drip and run.
  • Daylight and fluorescent lights can fade the color of your cake decorations especially if these are in pink and purple color

Care tips (when you are picking the cake yourself):

  • You must check the cake and by that we mean the name you wanted over the cake, personal message, color of cream, spelling mistakes, etc.
  • While leaving you must keep both your hands under the board so that weight is evenly distributed. If you do not do so, there may be cracks in fondant or cream layers.
  • Do not squeeze the side of the cake boxes and save your cake from unnecessary spilling of cream layers.
  • You must choose the vehicle well while you are returning with the cake. SUVs and cars are preferred because you have space to spread unlike bike or bus or train.
  • In case your cake is a large customized one, we may not give you a box to take back home. There would be only a cake platform with open box for safety reasons only.

Care tips (when you are picking the cake yourself)

  • Now once you are in your vehicle, you must place the cake at the flattest part of your car. The floor or SUV flatbed space is best suited. Generally, seats are not preferred because of their slanting nature. Drive carefully, with any sharp turns, sudden breaks, or potholes, there is a possibility of sliding sideways or down if you keep the cake on your seat.
  • Do not keep any item around the cake box to be safe and secure. • When you are going to pick up the cake, please avoid kids and pets.
  • When you have a decorative or designer or fondant cake to take back home, you must avoid any other engagements here and there because the more you roam around, there is risk of sliding, tipping, leaning, and leaping of the cake. Generally warm buttercream slides down a bit. So, don’t risk it and take the cake straight to its destination.

Cake Display:

Make sure your cake stand and table are stable. Keep the cake out of direct sunlight and warm areas. If a cake gets too warm it will begin to lose its shape, and buttercream cakes may melt or the buttercream may turn yellow. Water and sugar do not mix; if fondant gets wet it will leave dimples. You may be tempted to wipe fondant if it appears to sweat.

DO NOT WIPE the fondant: not only will you leave a lint trail on your cake, you will also cause irreparable damage. The fondant will dry over time as it comes to room temperature. Sugar flowers, figurines, and many sugar decorations are very delicate: do not touch them if possible.

Important: Before serving, please watch for and remove all dowels, wires, and support material. Once the cake is delivered or picked up, all responsibility belongs to the client. There are no refunds due to negligence.

Storage:

Cream Cheese Frosting, Fresh Whipped Cream Icing, and Cheesecakes must be refrigerated. When placing Buttercream Cream Cheese Frosting in the fridge, please be aware that your cake will more than likely pick up the scent and flavor of any onion, garlic or other strong-smelling items in your refrigerator. Please keep it away from these items if possible. Buttercream Cream Cheese Frosted cakes are best at room temperature (allow 2+ hours if possible). The cake should be refrigerated up to 1-3 hours before serving. Remove the cake from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature to develop the best flavor and texture. Tiered cakes take longer to warm up, so let them sit at least 2 hours before serving. Store leftover cake in the refrigerator. (Red Velvet, Carrot, Fruit, and cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting should stay refrigerated for up to 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving) Never freeze a fondant cake. Keep cakes away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat, as they may fade or melt

Transport

Keep the cake cool and away from direct sunlight. Please make sure you have a flat surface in your car to transport your cake. Most cakes will fit on the front floor. Larger cakes will need to travel in the back of an SUV or wagon. Please avoid putting it on a slanted car seat or any area with a slant; we DO NOT recommend someone holding the cake; placing it on the floorboard is the best option.

DO NOT LEAVE ANY OF OUR DESSERTS IN THE CAR FOR LONGER THAN IT TAKES FOR YOU TO GET HOME. THE HEAT AFFECTS THE FROSTING AND CAUSES IT TO BREAK DOWN. Don’t squeeze the sides of the box because the frosting may stick to the box. When carrying or transporting your cake, please place both hands underneath the cake to support the cake and the board. If you will be traveling with your cake after you take it home, we recommend keeping it refrigerated so the cake will be nice and firm for travel, and of course, drive carefully and avoid slamming your brakes or turning sharply.

When carrying your cake, please place both hands under the cake, being careful to keep hands under the cake center. Keep the cake level at all times. DO NOT PICK UP THE CAKE BY THE SIDES. THE BOARD WILL BEND, AND THE FROSTING MIGHT CRACK OR GET STUCK ON THE EDGE OF THE BOX. Pick-up or delivery is best done in the early morning and/or in a very cool, air-conditioned car. Make sure you have enough room in your car for the size cake you are purchasing. Larger specialty cakes do not come with a box. Please have a clean level space available.
